The BIS® ballistic information system

A normal laser rangefinder shows you the distance to your target. Naturally that is important - but this information is not enough on its own to answer the next question: what bullet drop can I expect? This question is answered in full by the ballistic information system BIS®, which is integrated in the ZEISS Victory RF binoculars and the monocular Victory PRF.

In order for this to function properly you need to "programme" the device with your bullet details. You have a choice of 24 different programmes, and your rifle can be sighted in to 100m or the most favourable zeroing range (with 4 cm high shot at 100 m), as you wish. On the Carl Zeiss Sports Optics homepage you will also find free software with around 1,500 loads, which will tell you which programme to use.

Once you have chosen this programme via the SET button on the device and the range has been found, the display on the binoculars will show you both the range and the bullet drop, and therefore the holdover point correction for the shot. Quick - simple - and a significant boost to successful aiming.
